Came across a good tutorial on JohnTP’s blog on optimizing your uTorrent for better download speeds. Very technical and not many pictures but, follow through with it, and you will be pleased with the results
I prefer uTorrent over other BitTorrent clients, since it very small, file size wise and doesn’t use a lot of memory.
I don’t understand why most BitTorrent users don’t use the automatic downloads features found in most BitTorrent clients. You can make life easier, and automate downloads by using RSS feeds, found on many torrent sites.
I haven’t watched television shows on a normal television for quite some time now. Instead, I have them downloaded automatically every week via uTorrent and RSS feeds. If you leave your pc/laptop on 24/7 like I do, then this could also be a great option for you.
Pros and Cons of Automated BitTorrent Downloads
Pros:
- It’s automated. That means you can spend more time doing something else than searching through torrent sites.
- Wide support on most established torrent sites. I recommend xTVI for television shows.
- Never Miss an episode. Set it and forget it. As long as your computer is on, files will download.
- Did I mention it was automated?
- Cheaper than investing in expensive equipment such as a Tivo or a DVD-R Recorder.
Cons:
- Setup can be confusing for the layman. If you don’t do it right, you can end up downloading the same show multiple times.
- Speed issues. Sometimes, torrent’s download really slowly. Especially if you haven’t tried JohnTP’s tutorial.
- Some BitTorrent clients eat up a lot of memory. This is bad.
- Downloading television shows is technically, illegal.
Well, I found a tutorial which shows you how to automatically download television shows on uTorrent. It’s not too hard to follow, so check it out if you are interested. Click here.
